Any flight – stress for your skin. We say that is really going on with it at an altitude of 10,000 meters and how to prevent the terrible consequences.
1. Dry Air
The first enemy of your skin in an airplane – the dry air. Comfortable humidity level for the person – from 40 to 70%. And it barely exceeds 20% in the aircraft cabin. As a result, the skin becomes red and scaly.
What to do?
First, drink more water. Secondly, use for the face with hyaluronic acid. It is part of our skin and is able to “lock” the moisture in the cells. Most other humectants ‘suck’ water from the outside, and in the dry air of the aircraft it is almost there.
For this reason, you should not use sprays for the face. At low humidity, they almost instantly evaporate by drying the skin stronger.
2. Protect Your Eyes, Ears, Lips and Cuticles
We noticed that the instant coffee in the plane seems to you better than an espresso in your favorite coffee shop? The high altitude affects the mucous membranes, which is why our taste perception is changing, and we may like the food or drinks that earlier we cannot stand (e.g. tomato juice). Other unpleasant effects – bleeding from the nose, over-dried lips and watery eyes.
What to do?
Take a bold lip balm (or petroleum jelly) and moisturizing eye drops.
3. The Dryness May Lead To Fat
As paradoxical as it may sound, but when your skin retain moisture, it tries to make up for the lost moisture due to the active allocation of fat. Keep this in mind and do not be alarmed when you notice the forehead shine.

4. Swelling
During long flights uncomfortable posture, immobility, and salty foods lead to water retention in the body. As a result, your face and feet swell.
What to Do?
Once you land, do some simple exercises; even just walk a few times around the luggage belt. Physical activity improves circulation, swelling and will be faster.
5. Use a Sunscreen
We are not just talking about the importance of the use of funds from the SPF. In flight, you are closer to the sun, especially if you sit by the window. At high altitude the UV rays are more intense, and the air – thin, so there is less protection from their harmful effects. In this case, increasing the risk of damaging the skin.
What to do?
Always use sunscreen, especially if you fly during the day.
6. Skin Rashes
Whatever you say, every flight – this is quite a stressful event: go through all the checkpoints, not to forget the documents meet the luggage limit – a little like a fun party. The excitement before and during the flight leads to the production of stress hormones. The external signs of this process and inflammation on the skin: redness, acne and even eczema and psoriasis.
What to do?
Even in flight, try to follow your beauty regimen. If you are flying at night, gently remove makeup and wash your favorite tool, and then apply the cream.
