Varicose veins may have many causes http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/240129.php, and if you can determine what these are, you will also be better equipped to decide what course of action to take.

Get more exercise

Varicose veins can be caused by sitting or standing for long periods of time, so getting enough exercise is crucial in avoiding them. When you exercise, your veins pump blood through them at a faster rate and this lowers the chances of inflammation. Exercise is always a good thing, and the fact that it can help reduce the chances of varicose veins makes it all the more so. If mobility becomes more of an issue as you age you may want to look at Park Homes as they are single storey dwellings that will allow for you to still be mobile but without the risk of slips and trips on stairs.

Stick to a healthy weight

If you maintain a healthy weight you put less stress and strain on your body. If you are overweight you are far more likely to develop varicose veins, as excess weight puts a greater amount of pressure on your body and contributes to inflammation.

Balance your hormones

If your hormones have gone haywire they can cause varicose veins. Balancing your hormones using essential oils is one way of keeping the in check, and another, for women, is opting for a contraceptive. Contraceptives regulate a woman’s cycle so their hormones should stabilise and not change dramatically. Women going through menopause are also more susceptible to varicose veins and can take supplements to try and stave them off.

Change your diet

There are certain foods that improve blood flow and reverse inflammation, and if you have varicose veins or are developing them, eating right can be hugely helpful. A poor diet can have many negative effects, and if you eat well and don’t drink too much coffee or alcohol you may find that problem veins vanish, and new ones don’t appear. High antioxidant foods, foods rich in magnesium and fiber, are all good options.
