One of the biggest rights that most Americans enjoy is that of being able to own a firearm. While there are many different firearms that can be owned, one of the most popular amongst people due to price and size is that of a handgun.

When owning a handgun, you’ll want to make sure you maintain it in order to make sure it’s ready to fire when needed. With all of the many accessories, you can buy for guns, such as sig grip modules, barrels, and more, learning how to keep your handgun clean is essential to get the best performance out of your accessories. Let’s go over the best ways to keep your firearm clean.

The first step is to consult the manual. The reason for this is because understanding what the manufacturer recommends is important as they know all the ins and outs of the gun that you’ve purchased. This manual will also show you how to take apart the firearm, as well as show you where all the parts go. Too many people just start taking their gun apart, without knowing how to put it back together or knowing which parts go where. This can lead to missing parts and can lead to misfires or cause damage to the firearm over time.

Second, you’ll want to take the gun apart. Once this has happened, you’ll need some cleaning tools such as a cleaning rod, bore brush, mops, utility brushes, cotton swaps, and cleaning chemicals so that you have everything you need to get the job done.

Once you’ve cleaned the barrel and the chamber, you can safely start putting your gun back together. Make sure to consult the manual on this process to make sure that you don’t have any missing pieces, or pieces left over when putting it all back together.
