What to Bring to a Bristol Hearing Test Appointment

Preparation for your Hearing Test in Bristol before your appointment will mean that the time of the audiologist can be used to assess your hearing and treat any problems, rather than having to search for information to establish your hearing history.

Your Medication List

This could be a list of your current medication (including your dose) for example: antibiotics, chemotherapy, high-dose aspirin etc. Don’t forget to include any supplements that you take. This can be written down the evening before your appointment.

A Note on Your Ear History

This is a simple note to add to the list above regarding any past ear infections, surgeries to the ears, tinnitus or sudden changes in hearing. Give a rough idea of when these happened and the audiologist can gain insight into the factors that have led to your current hearing status.

Your Difficult Listening Situations

Ideally you would give some thought to the situations in which your hearing causes most problems. A list of 2 or 3 examples (e.g. unable to follow phone calls, struggling to hear in noisy restaurants, cannot hear the TV) will help us to plan a Hearing Test Bristol which is suitable for you and identify the most appropriate hearing loss solutions for you.

Any Existing Hearing Aids or Ear Moulds

Also bring any existing hearing aids as well as any old ear moulds for them to be checked for fit, for programming and for condition. This can often save a second appointment for us to check them for you.

A Trusted Person to Come With You

It’s also worth bringing a friend or relative to the appointment, as they can also act as a ‘second pair of ears’ when you get your results and we discuss treatment options or hearing aids.
