Dolce & Gabbana has become a powerhouse in the fashion realm, and has been that way since its foundation in 1985. The Italian company is known for elegance, boldness and expression. The company is constantly looking for ways to raise the bar and add to its success. Its most recent goal is to triple its value; from €1 billion to €3 billion. Their timeline is even more lofty; they are hoping to reach this goal in a matter of three years. How are they going to do it? By moving their business in-house.
The Business of Beauty
The idea of taking direct control of its sales, production and distribution is no small feat. The company launched a new legal entity on January 1, named Dolce & Gabbana Beauty. Headquartered in Milan, this expansion will allow them to dip their toes into the beauty world, doing what they know best and applying it to a new product line. The lower price starting point allows younger customers to become acquainted with the brand, exposing them to it at a younger age and potentially locking them in as lifelong customers.
New Fragrance Line
One of their first primary goals is to overhaul their fragrance system. Although Dolce & Gabbana have produced fragrances for over thirty years, they are looking to create a new fragrance, and hope to have 80 percent of their fragrance line be new fragrances within the next two years.
One of the most noteworthy new fragrances is a fragrance for women, called “Q”, short for Queen. It is a new fragrance meant to pair with the men’s version, King. The bottle is topped with a red and gold crown, and contains rich notes of lemon, blood orange, jasmine and cherry.
The Devotion Collection
Next up is a revamp of makeup and skincare lines. The first makeup collection, The Devotion Collection, contains an array of makeup products. The mascara is created to add an intense volume and lift to lashes while containing ingredients to improve lash strength and improve thickness. The illuminating face powder illuminates and awakens the skin, adding vibrancy and depth. The liquid lipstick provides instant intense color, with a softening effect on the lips, helping keep them hydrated. This collection is the first of multiple makeup collections to come to Dolce & Gabbana.
Continued Expansion
This makeup collection is the first of multiple makeup collections to come to Dolce & Gabbana. As a later goal, the company is hoping to delve into the skincare realm in 2025. The company feels that they are not reaching their full potential, and they are optimistic that between moving all of their production to an in-house setting and expanding into makeup and skincare, they can push further than they’ve ever gone before.
Dolce & Gabbana’s goal is to continue to expand their brand, not just their profits. Their success over the last several decades have been a result of pushing the limits and continuing to set new goals.
