Most people are aware of the benefits of massage therapy. From reduced muscle tension to improved circulation to a reduction in stress hormones, there are many reasons to go and get a massage. However, there are many different types of massages to choose from. Here are three different unique types of massages you may find at a massage company Huntington Beach CA

1. Hot Stone Massage

Most people find a hot stone massage to be comforting and deeply relaxing. During a hot stone massage, heated, smooth river rocks are placed on specific points along the body. These points are believed to balance the energies between the mind and body. This type of massage is ideal for those who find that they get chilly during a massage therapy session. After applying massage oil to the skin, the therapist glides the stones to move the stones along the muscles. After the stones are removed, Swedish massage techniques are used on the back, legs, neck, and shoulder areas.

2. Aromatherapy Massage

An aromatherapy massage involves the use of essential oils being rubbed into the skin.  Essential oils are highly-concentrated plant extracts, which must be mixed with a carrier oil such as almond oil or olive oil. The aromatherapy massage experience may differ greatly, depending on which essential oil is chosen. For example, essential oils of lavender, or chamomile may be chosen for relaxation purposes, while rosemary or ylang-ylang essential oils may be utilized to give the participant a more invigorating massage.

3. Reflexology Massage

When you go to a massage therapist for a reflexology massage, they will just be massaging your feet, hands, and ears. However, this can still be a fantastic experience. These areas contain very specific pressure points that are believed to be connected to certain organs and body systems. Based largely on the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the goal of reflexology is to keep qi, or vital energy flowing freely throughout the body.

Whichever type of massage therapy you choose, know that you are making a choice that will ultimately benefit your body, mind, and spirit.
